New this year: To keep things simple, we’re holding one general sale for all Minnetonka property owners.
Eligibility: You must be a Minnetonka property owner to participate.
Limit: Each resident may purchase up to two trees or shrubs.
Things to Know
- The tree sale will open for orders May 4th at 8 a.m., and close June 4th at 4 p.m.
- Your preordered trees will be available for pick up September 18th and 19th, read Pick-up Event for more info.
- Trees range from 4–12 feet tall, weigh 40–80 lbs, and may be dirty or wet.
- Bring a suitable vehicle and a blanket or garbage bag to protect your car for loading.
Tree Size & Container Info
- Trees come in #10 containers (about 10 gallons), typically 12 - 18" tall and 14 - 18" wide.
- Most trees are young and easy to plant, generally 4 - 8 feet tall.

Light Requirements
Full Sun: 6+ hours of direct sunlight
Partial Shade: 4–6 hours
Tolerates Partial Shade: Prefers full sun but can handle 4–6 hours
Shade Tolerant: Less than 4 hours
Soil Moisture
Dry: Slopes, exposed areas, full sun
Medium: Moist, well-draining soil, often partly shaded
Wet: Soil stays moist for most of the growing season
Flood: Soil is periodically underwater for extended periods
Soil Conditions
Neutral: Most of the soil in Minnetonka
Low pH: Acidic soils (often wetlands)
High pH: Alkaline soils (often near roads and sidewalks)
Salt Tolerance
Trees marked Road Salt Tolerant can handle exposure to salt spray and buildup from winter deicing
