Native to MN on the species level, not on the specific cultivar ‘Jefferson’

Light Preference: Full sun

Soil Preference: Medium moisture and well-drained

Tolerates… Wet and dry sites, some drought and air pollution

Does not tolerate… sandy soils with low nutrients

Other notes: A native American Elm with Dutch Elm Disease resistance. It is a clone of the original “Jefferson’ Elm that still stands at the National Mall in Washington, DC. Insignificant green small green flowers appear in spring before foliage emerges. Leaves turn yellow in the fall.
